Zoo committee takes meeting to their stomping ground

Don’t show up to room 416 in City Hall next week for the Joint Zoo Committee meeting — they’re taking a field trip.

At a commissioner’s request, the committee is taking a tour of the zoo because they don’t get out there often enough.

The request for the tour came after a presentation about how the zoo needs more money to upgrade its aging exhibits and will either starts asking a group of wealthy, dedicated donors or come to voters.

So instead of the meeting starting at 2 p.m., it will start at 4 p.m. Thursday with the tour and then 5 p.m. at the zoo’s education center.
