Youth turning up the heat on Muni

The San Francisco Youth Commission is holding a Tuesday rally on the steps of City Hall Tuesday to announce “a week of intense advocacy to (a) pressure the Board of Supervisors and the Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors to not raise youth fast passes to $30/month and (b) to create a discounted fast pass for poor young people who qualify for free or reduced lunch.”

The members of the commission and supporters of its cause will also attend the Board of Supervisors meeting to speak out on the proposal as well as the Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors meeting on Friday when they vote on the proposal.
The proposal is part of a strategy being considered by the transit agency to close its deficit.
