Youth gets neck cut in fight over beer

A 28-year-old roofer was arrested early Sunday morning for slashing a youth’s neck with a knife during an argument over beer Sunday, according to South San Francisco police.

Two groups of people "got into a physical fight over beer" in front of a home on the 200 block of California Avenue at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, South San Francisco police said.

During the fight, Gabino Zaragoza, of South San Francisco, allegedly cut a juvenile male’s neck with a knife, police said. The boy, whose age, name and city of residence were not released, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, police said. He was given 18 stitches for his wound, officials said.

Zaragoza was arrested and booked Sunday into San Mateo county jail where he was being held on attempted murder charges, police said.

The stabbing continues a violent week on the Peninsula during which there was a triple homicide near Redwood City, a shooting in Pacifica and anothershooting in Brisbane.
