Young man shot dead in Western Addition

A 21-year-old man was shot dead in the Western Addition on Monday night, the third young man to die by gun violence in San Francisco since Friday.

Lawrence Richardson of San Francisco was shot while walking on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of Eddy Street just before 10:40 p.m., police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

He had just left a convenience store when gunfire erupted, he said.

He was transported to the hospital, where he died around 11:45 p.m.

No arrests have been made, Andraychak said, and no motive has been determined, although the victim appeared to be the intended target. The incident is The City's 18th homicide of the year.
