X Prize group celebrates change in San Francisco 

Radical Benefit for Humanity: On Thursday at the Regency Center in San Francisco, the X Prize Foundation — a nonprofit dedicated to improving the world by forming new industries and revitalizing failed markets — held an event subtitled “Making the Impossible Possible, One Prize at a Time.” The guest list for the “evening of entertainment, intelligence and vision” hosted by Wendy and Eric Schmidt and James and Suzy Cameron included internationalleaders, entrepreneurs and philanthropists.

Lavish Indian gala held for Asian Art Museum

Asian Art Museum opening night gala: Museum patrons, civic leaders and art lovers celebrated the exhibition “Maharaja: The Splendor of India's Royal Courts” Wednesday evening. Cocktails, an Indian-inspired formal dinner, Indian entertainment and advance viewing of the show made up the benefit evening’s festivities. Chairs were Pamela Joyner, Kumar Malavalli and Tatiana Sorokko.

Event has purses, philanthropy in the bag

This Old Bag: Kaiser Permanente presented its seventh annual Power of the Purse benefit for the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund on Friday at the St. Regis San Francisco. Some 400 guests shopped for new and vintage bags. Selections included donations from couture designers, philanthropists and retailers, as well as autographed bags from athletes and hot Hollywood stars.
