Would-be robbers foiled by a faulty elevator

The voice calling police in Cologne, Germany, from an elevator’s emergency phone said, “This sounds really dumb, but I’m afraid that we wanted to break in and the elevator has gotten stuck.” Arriving police found two thieves aged 31 and 37 stuck in the elevator of an office building. One thief had injured his hand attempting to pry open the door. Firefighters eventually freed the men and they were arrested.
