Worker injured in 20-foot fall at SFMOMA site

A worker was injured Friday morning after falling about 20 feet off scaffolding inside the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s construction project site.

The incident occurred about 10 a.m. at the expansion project site at 151 Third St.

The worker, whose name and age were not immediately released, fell while working on the construction of a scaffold inside a freight elevator shaft.

He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital in stable condition.

The man is employed by NorCal Scaffolding of San Leandro. The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health was reportedly on site assisting with an investigation into the incident.

Construction on the SFMOMA expansion that will more than double the museum’s exhibition space began in 2013 and is expected to be complete next year.
