Women small-business owners may benefit from proposed rule 

Women who own small businesses could get a boost when it comes to competing for federal contracts under a proposed rule drafted by the U.S. Small Business Administration today.

The proposal is part of the Obama administration’s overall commitment to creating more opportunities for small businesses, especially those that are owned and operated by women.

The proposal identifies 83 industries in which women-owned businesses are under-represented in the federal contract marketplace, according to the SBA.
