Woman’s trip to cell phone store more than she bargained for

In some cases it can be costly just to call the police.

On Friday, a woman phoned cops after a trip to a cell phone store at Stonestown Galleria Mall turned out to be extremely expensive.

The woman said she had inquired about a phone upgrade, but opted against it. She received her phone bill this month and noticed it was $245 higher than usual, police said.

Turned out someone had upgraded her phone and also purchased four new cell phones, police said.

The victim said she had given her social security number to the customer care person at the mall’s store. The case is under investigation, police said.
