Woman who uses walker robbed of purse on Mission Street

A 68-year-old woman who uses a walker was robbed in the Mission district Tuesday, but the suspect was arrested, Officer Grace Gatpandan said.

Tanda Davis, 44, who has no known local address, was arrested after allegedly grabbing the purse of the victim who was walking in the 2000 block of Mission Street about 4:54 p.m.

The victim struggled to hold onto her purse and walker, but the suspect was able to take hold of the purse, police said.

An officer nearby saw Davis taking money from the victim’s wallet and dropping the wallet on the street before she was taken into custody, police said.

Davis was booked into County Jail on charges of robbery, with an enhancement for elder abuse, and two trespassing warrants, Gatpandan said.
