Woman struck by bus in SoMA

A woman was struck by a Golden Gate Transit bus this morning at Eighth and Howard streets and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

She was likely suffering from serious injuries based on the paramedic’s response, according to fire Lt. Mindy Talmdage.

The empty bus had already made its last stop and was turning left onto Eighth Street from Howard Street just after 8 a.m., said Golden Gate Highway Transportation District spokeswoman Mary Currie.

It is unclear who had the right of way, Currie said.

The driver was taken off his route and will be drug tested per standard procedure, she said.
