Woman shows mercy to thief who stole her purse

A woman who had her purse swiped from a bar near Union Square last week opted not to press charges after cops caught the thieves, police said.

The woman was talking with a friend at the bar in the 400 block of Sutter Street when a suspect came up from behind and snatched her purse at around 1:50 a.m., police said.

The woman chased the suspect out of the bar. The thief jumped into a waiting vehicle with three other people and fled, police said.

Cops later spotted the car on Mission Street. The cops stopped the vehicle, detained the suspects, and drove the victim to the scene to identify them.

“The victim did in fact identify the suspects, but did not want to press charges after her purse was returned to her,” police said.
The suspects were released at the scene, police said.
