Woman killed by Caltrain was San Mateo resident

The San Mateo County coroner's office released the identity today of a 43-year-old woman fatally struck by a Caltrain train in San Mateo on Monday afternoon.

San Mateo resident Tammy Lou Sanchez was reportedly trespassing on train tracks when she was struck by a southbound Caltrain train at about 3:10 p.m., company spokesman Jonah Weinberg said.

It was not known whether the death was a suicide, Weinberg said Monday.

Caltrain service was suspended in the area immediately following the incident. Trains began running on a single track at about 3:45 p.m., and the second track reopened at 4:40 p.m., according to Weinberg.
