Woman flown to hospital after cliff rescue Monday afternoon

A woman was flown to a hospital after being rescued from a cliff near a Half Moon Bay golf course on Monday afternoon, Coastside Fire Protection District officials said.

Reports came in at about 2:50 p.m. that there was a person in distress on the cliffs near Half Moon Bay Golf Links, located at 2 Miramontes Point Road.

The Coastside Fire Protection District, Half Moon Bay police, San Mateo County firefighters and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Rescuers found a woman perched 60 feet below the cliff’s edge and 80 to 100 feet above the rocky shore below, according to the fire district.

Firefighters had to construct a rope rescue system to reach the woman and raise her to safety.

She was treated at the scene then flown to Stanford Hospital. The woman’s name and condition have not been released.
