Woman could receive $750K from Muni accident claim

A woman who had to have amputations after being struck by a Muni bus on Market Street in 2006 is set to receive an injury claim from the San Francisco transit agency for $750,000.

Imelda Torrente was hit while in the crosswalk on Market Street, an injury that forced the amputation of her right leg above the knee and the removal of her left foot at the ankle, according to a claim filed by Torrente’s attorneys.

Today, nearly four years to the date of the July 12, 2006, accident, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s board of directors will be asked to approve Torrente’s claim request.
