A woman was robbed and bruised in a Mission district robbery Tuesday, police Sgt. Daryl Fong said.

The 42-year-old was at a store about 3:15 p.m. when she put her phone down on a counter, Fong said. Another customer then told her that a man and a woman had fled with it.

The victim tried to buy back her phone, but it was again pilfered when she feigned taking a picture of the man, Fong said. She was punched by the man after chasing after him.

She then caught up to the crook again, but he told her he ditched the phone a block away, Fong said. The victim retraced her steps and eventually found her phone.
