Woman assaulted with stick in own home in possible burglary

A woman was assaulted with a stick in what may have been a burglary in the Sunset on Monday, police said.

The 41-year-old woman was exiting a room in her residence in the 2000 block of 14th Avenue about 11:18 a.m. when she was struck in the head several times with a wooden stick by an unknown suspect, police said.

The suspect, who police said may be a juvenile, fled and was not arrested. It was unknown if anything was stolen from the residence.

The victim was hospitalized, but her injuries were not life-threatening.
