Woman, 52, assaulted in Tenderloin may have been hit with hammer, cops say 

A woman was assaulted in the Tenderloin on Wednesday, possibly by a blow with a hammer, police said.

The 52-year-old victim was attacked from behind at Post and Hyde streets around 6:40 a.m., police said.

She was hit in the head, possibly with a hammer, by an unknown suspect and suffered lacerations to her head, police said.

The woman was transported to the hospital for her injuries, which were not life threatening.

No further information was available as of Thursday afternoon.
