Witnesses sought in Glen Park rape case

Two witnesses who broke up a sexual assault near the Glen Park BART station earlier this month may be the key to finding a man accused of stalking a 27-year-old San Francisco woman and raping her.

Police are calling for witnesses who were in the area of Bosworth Street and Lippard Avenue on Nov. 10 at about 5:30 p.m. when the victim was walking to her car. Police said that’s when a woman ran up to her and demanded her purse.

According to Investigator Sidney Laws of the Police Department’s Sexual Assault Section, the suspect yelled at the victim, slapped her and then threw her to the ground after taking her purse. Then, a man approached her as she tried to stand up. He threw her down and sexually assaulted her on the sidewalk.

That’s when two women walked up and yelled, causing both suspects to run off.

Police hope those witnesses will come forward because the man later learned the victim’s address from her stolen driver’s license and laid in wait for her at her home five days later.

On Nov. 15, when she opened her garage door to park her car, the man sneaked in after her and raped her at gunpoint.

Investigators didn’t learn of the attacks until Saturday, seven days after the initial incident, which police say is often the case in situations in which the victim feels too afraid or embarrassed to come forward.

Police describe the male suspect as a black man in his 20s, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes. He also has a mole under his right cheek and a tattoo with the letters INRI on his right forearm.

The female suspect is described as Hispanic, in her 20s, 5 feet 3 inches tall, and weighing 140 pounds. She has high penciled-in eyebrows, a thick Hispanic accent and was wearing pink lip gloss at the time.
