Witnesses foil brazen daylight robbery in downtown San Francisco

Witnesses foiled a robbery attempt that occurred during the daylight hours at Fourth and Market streets Saturday, police said.

Two suspects ages 17 and 19 swiped a woman’s phone around 5:30 p.m., but the thugs were surrounded by witnesses, police said. The pressure from witnesses forced one of the suspects to drop the phone. As they fled, one of the punks knocked the woman to the ground, police said. She was not seriously hurt.

One of the suspects got away, but the punk that got physical was arrested, police said.
