Witness leads police to crook who snatched items from car

A witness to an auto burglary led cops to the perp on Monday, police said.

The witness watched the crook break a car window and steal items in the area of Van Ness Avenue and Fern Street at around 6:15 p.m.

He called 911 and followed the suspect, providing the dispatcher updates on where the suspect was headed, police said.

Cops arrived and arrested the suspect. They recovered several items from the victim’s car, police said.
