Who will get a turn on the carousel?

Three suitors are courting the carousel and food kiosk in Golden Gate Park as the February 5th deadline approaches for the application to operate it.

Right now it only turns on weekends and the food kiosk is empty.

The companies that attended a pre-submittal meeting are Annie’s Hot Dogs and Pretzels, a local that’s been operating at the cable car turnaround for decades, MJM Management Group Inc. which also manages Union Square, Yerba Buena and several other parks, and the operators of a Sacramento amusement park, Funderland.

Rec and Park has posted a Q&A for them on their Web site.

The old rent model charged $1,200 a month plus $400 for the pushcart and percentages of ticket and food sales, however that will change.

If all goes according to plan, the lease will start for the perfect suitor in April.
