Wet weather causes airport, traffic delays

The wet weather is causing some issues on Bay Area roads and is expected to cause delays at San Francisco International Airport. Flights may be delayed at least a half-hour.

The morning rush hour is slow going on the Bay Bridge even with the metering lights on. Traffic is also slow on U.S. 101 on the Peninsula heading into The City.

At the airport, the rain and low clouds will contribute to delays of up to 45 minutes later today, said Dan Dinnocenti, the SFO Airport duty manager.

"We're going to have some issues," Dinnocenti said.

Because of the weather, the airport has switched to a different arrival-departure plan that requires additional coordination between air traffic control facilities.

Dinnocenti said flights would start becoming delayed 30 minutes around 10 a.m.
