Weiner uplifted by poll - won't resign

Embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner is as determined as ever to remain in office despite the scandal that has enveloped his life, someone close to the lawmaker said Thursday night.

Weiner was apparently encouraged by a new NY1-Marist poll of voters in Brooklyn and Queens that found 56 percent of voters don't think he should resign, said the source, who requested anonymity. Weiner, a Democrat, represents New York's 9th District.

The person connected with Weiner also insisted the congressman's marriage remains intact and that his pregnant wife, Huma Abedin, is committed to the relationship.

Weiner has admitted to sending illicit text messages and photos to women who followed him on Twitter. Numerous Democrats have called on him to resign and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has called for an Ethics Committee investigation into Weiner's actions.
