The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office today filed two felony drug charges against the prime suspect in a Walnut Creek homicide case.

Jonathan Marvin, 34, of Benicia, was arrested Thursday for the Dec. 3 murder of Pittsburg's Eric James Martin, 30.

Martin's body was found slumped over in the driver's seat of a black Acura sedan at a Walnut Creek parking lot. Investigators would not say why Marvin is suspected of killing Martin other than that the two men had been acquaintances.

Today, Marvin was charged for selling and distributing marijuana and remains a suspect in the homicide investigation, police said. It is not known whether the drug charges are related to the homicide case.

Marvin is being held at County Jail in Martinez, police said. The murder investigation is ongoing and police are still following leads and searching for suspects.

Martin's death is the city's second homicide this year following an apparent murder-suicide on Oct. 2 in an apartment at 1544 Third Ave.

Police found Aurelio Ruiz-Navarro, of Concord, and Evelia Ayala, of Walnut Creek, both 25, shot dead inside the apartment after neighbors called to report an altercation.

Investigators believe that Ruiz-Navarro shot Ayala, his former girlfriend, and then shot himself, Sgt. Bryan Hill said shortly after the incident.
