Voters could put Alcatraz on Google map

The Golden Gate National Recreation Area is pushing for voters to have Google photograph Alcatraz for the Street View application.
Google Maps released a survey that asks people where they want to see the “Street View trike” document, since it typically only goes where cars can.

Before releasing the survey, Google sifted through about 25,000 suggestions and narrowed them to five categories: parks and trails, university campuses, pedestrian malls -- including Pier 39 -- theme parks and zoos and landmarks.

Alcatraz is one of five options under landmarks.

The GGNRA recently tweeted, “Vote for Alcatraz to be visited by Street View trike in Google Maps US Street View Special Collections competition.”
