Vote on Civic Center district part II

The Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee holds a second hearing Wednesday to vote on legislation that would authorize Mayor Gavin Newsom vote in favor of public properties being part of a proposed community benefit district for the Civic Center area.

This committee had postponed a vote on the bill after expressing concerns about the process. There are a number of publicly owned parcels in the proposed district and the city’s vote alone would force the district formation process on to private property owners even if they voted against it. Instead, the committee decided to wait until the votes are in from the private property owners. On Wednesday, the committee will find out those results and then decide what to do.

The Committee meets Wednesday at 11 am, at City Hall, in Room 250.
