Volunteers: If you let us stay the night, we’ll clean up Corona Heights Park

Potentially hundreds of eager trail excavators are ready to sink their hands into Corona Heights Park’s footpaths.

The trade-off: They should be allowed to spend the night.

The Recreation and Park Department is already spending $100,000 to landscape the reddish-brown chert rock, which scoffs at erosion.

But nonprofit Volunteer for California is eager to help out, too.

Commissioners on Thursday just have to give the nonprofit the OK to camp out there the weekend of Aug. 20th. It’s on the agenda for their regular meeting at 4 p.m.

And while it might not sound like something most would want to brave, these particular volunteers are not naive.
