Visibly drunken man threatens to beat up cops in Bayview

A man was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness after threatening to beat up cops Tuesday in the Bayview district’s Mendell Plaza.

The man was visibly intoxicated when he walked over to two bicycle patrol cops around 2 p.m., police said. He pointed at one of the cops and stated he “hated that pig.”

Then he picked up a woman’s purse off a nearby planter and attempted to walk away with it. He got an “earful” from that woman. Then when cops intervened, they got an earful from the drunken man.

The man let go of the purse and then, slurring, told the cops to call their supervisor so he could watch him kick the officers’ “you know what,” police said.

He was arrested without incident and booked into jail.

Mendell Plaza is the site of an officer-involved shooting that sparked anti-police sentiment last month.
