Violence escalates in Afghanistan

Armed Taliban insurgents killed nine people and injured more than 12 at a police training center in Afghanistan's volitile southern city of Kandahar Thursday.
As expected by U.S. Commanders, violence in the region has increased over the past several weeks with the Taliban beginning its  Spring offensive against NATO and Afghan security forces. At least three suicide bombers made their way into the police compound when the attack began, according to Afghan police.
The reports said militants used rocket-propelled grenades, along with various other small arms when they stormed the training facility.
The Afghan Taliban took responsibility for the attacks.
