Victim of apparent stabbing found dead outside storage facility in San Mateo

One person was found dead outside a business in the industrial area of San Mateo Tuesday afternoon, the victim of an apparent stabbing.

Few details were immediately available. San Mateo police responded to the All American Self Storage on East Third Avenue at Detroit Avenue for the report of a deceased person around 1:30 p.m., according to Sgt. David Norris.

The person, whose identity or description was not released, was a victim of an apparent stabbing. Norris said the incident appears to be isolated and it seems as if the person was targeted.

“This does not appear to be a random act,” Norris said in a released statement.

Numerous San Mateo officers and detectives have responded and are operating with the assistance of outside agencies to investigate this active homicide case, according to Norris.

The area of Detroit and E. Third Ave has been closed off and San Mateo police are advising community members to stay out of this area if possible while this investigation is conducted.
