Quick, name the 1990s rapper most likely to be arrested on suspicion of stealing furniture, bicycles and a pool heater.

Congratulations! The answer is indeed Vanilla Ice, aka Robert Van Winkle, who was tagged and bagged by police Wednesday after allegedly swiping household junk from a Florida home. The rapper, known for hits such as “Ice Ice Baby,” “Ice Ice Baby 2001” and “Ice Ice Baby 2008,” faces charges of burglary and grand theft.

Lantana, Fla., Police Chief Sean Scheller told The Hollywood Reporter the thefts occurred adjacent to a house where Ice was filming “The Vanilla Ice Project,” a home-renovation series on the DIY Network.

The first rule of home renovation: don’t pillage the neighbors.

Semifinalists for the James Beard Awards were announced, and Bay Area chefs scored a juicy slice of the accolades.

The City’s Lazy Bear and The Progress made the short list for best new eateries, while Acquerello, Greens and Gary Danko are in the running for best established restaurant. The awards — named for gourmand, author and canned-tuna aficionado James Beard — will narrow down the nods March 24 before winners are named May 4.

Rising-star semifinalists Jeremy Wayne of The City’s La Folie and Jessica Largey of Los Gatos’ Manresa may want to start investing in horseshoes and lucky socks, as will outstanding chef semifinalists Traci Des Jardins of Jardiniere, Nancy Oakes of Boulevard and Michael Tusk of Quince.

Semifinalists for best chef, which is a separate category because why not, include Michelin Guide darlings Dominique Crenn of Atelier Crenn, Corey Lee of Benu and Joshua Skenes of Saison.
