Use what your park bond gave you

Residents will be able to fix major eyesores at their parks soon with money that was set aside for it in 2008.

The $185 million Clean and Safe Neighborhood bond that voters approved in 2008 set aside $5 million for the community opportunity fund, which allows community groups and residents to apply for funding for projects like replacing a seating area.

A task force mapped out the criteria for applications and will be voted on by Rec and Park commissioners at their regular meeting Thursday.
