Urban Forest preview at Bayview Opera House

If you can’t plant a tree in the cement, at least you can remind city dwellers what a tree is.

That’s what a group of artists is planning to do with the Urban Forest Project, a privately funded effort through the Department of Public Works set to be unveiled in April. Banners that evoke scenes of green will be posted around The City.

You can get a sneak peek on Saturday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Bayview Opera House where the banners, made by professional designers from AIGA San Francisco, local high school students, and Academy of Art University students and alumni, will be on display.

Once the banners come down, they will be converted into recycled products and be auctioned off to raise money for local tree planting initiatives and education, according to the group.
