UPDATE: No California Street cable car service until Thursday morning

San Francisco's cable cars along the California Street line will not run again until 6 a.m. Thursday morning, it has been confirmed.

Service will be fully restored then, according San Francisco Municipal Railway spokesman Alan Siegel.

The line's cable car service came to a halt at around 8:50 a.m. for reasons that are still under investigation.

While the cables are being fixed, Muni buses will make the same stops as the California cable cars would, Siegel said.

The California Street cable line runs east and west on California Street from the Financial District, through Chinatown, over Nob Hill and stops at Van Ness Avenue, according to Siegel.
