Unlicensed drivers busted for drunken driving in Half Moon Bay

Two unlicensed drivers, one of which was a minor, were arrested for drunken driving in Half Moon Bay over the weekend, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Officers responded to the scene of a collision at Main and Miramontes streets around 8:22 p.m. Saturday where they found a bumper, a license plate and a knocked over cement garbage can, police said.

Nearby, a 15-year-old girl and a 32-year-old man were arguing, both appeared to have been drinking.

The girl admitted to police that she had been driving when the man tried to switch seats with her into the driver’s seat and drove the car into a park. Both failed field sobriety tests, police said.

They were arrested on drunken driving and driving without a license charges. The man was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
