University boys, girls cruise to wins over Drew 

Nine University players were able to get on the scoreboard in the first quarter as the Red Devils (14-3, 4-0) cruised bythe Dragons (6-11, 0-4) at home. Sam Shapiro and Evan Saunders each had 10 points to lead University while Drew’s Scott Schulkin had 14 points.

The Red Devils’ defense put heavy pressure on the Dragons, leading to easy transition baskets en route to the victory. Cecilia Furlong led University with 10 points while Justine Li had nine. Meghan Timpane and Jamie Peraza each had seven to lead Drew.

Urban 64, Lick-Wilmerding 51

Rachael Pecota scored 16 points to pace four Blues in double figures as Urban (11-6, 4-0) used a big middle two quarters to upend the Tigers.

Shaunre’ Clendinen scored 10 of her 14 in the first half and Jen Marquez all 11 of her points in the opening 16 minutes as the Blues used a 21-11 second-quarter advantage to grab a 37-24 halftime lead. The Blues then put the game away with a 14-9 run in the third quarter.

Lynn Stills chipped in 11 points for Urban.

Traci Chang paced Lick-Wilmerding with 20 points.
