Union Square jewelry store robbed at gunpoint

A jewelry store in the Union Square area was robbed at gunpoint Friday, police said Monday.

Three men armed with handguns entered the store in the 500 block of Sutter Street about 11:47 a.m. and ordered the employees to lay on the ground, police said.

The crooks then helped themselves to jewelry from the safes and display cases. The crooks fled in a light-colored SUV westbound on Sutter Street.
