  • Kim Kardashian, in red, her sister Khloe Kardashian and Kanye West, right back, walk after visiting the memorial to the victims of genocide in Yerevan, Armenia last week. While Kim Kardashian is used to being photographed, an ultra-Orthodox news site in Israel removed her image from photos Tuesday.
Kim Kardashian is used to photographers who would do anything to snap her picture, but on Tuesday an ultra-Orthodox Jewish newspaper did everything it could to erase her from photos — well, everything except actually learning Photoshop.

Hakikar ran photos of the reality-TV star dining with husband Kanye West and Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat during a visit to Israel this week, according to the Washington Post. But squint at the pixels long enough, and the eagle-eyed viewer will notice that the newspaper just sloppily pasted a giant restaurant receipt over Kardashian’s entire body.

The $600 receipt was probably intended as a dig against Barkat, whom the paper lambasted for daring to eat at a non-Kosher restaurant, but ultra-Orthodox newspapers in Israel are notorious for censoring “sexually suggestive” images of women.

Earlier this year, another newspaper drew howls after cutting German Chancellor Angela Merkel out of a picture of world leaders condemning the fatal attacks on Charlie Hebdo. In 2011 a different newspaper erased Hillary Clinton’s image from a White House photograph with all the subtlety of Josef Stalin scratching Leon Trotsky’s photo out of his Soviet yearbook.

Hakikar even erased Kardashian from the story, referring to her as “West’s wife,” even though the couple only stopped in Israel because Kim and Khloe Kardashian visited Armenia to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

Alas, Hakikar’s censorship was for naught — the newspaper forgot to crop a scandalous image of a woman’s shoulder out of the photograph.
