Two women robbed of electronics while on bus in SF

Two women were robbed in separate incidents that occurred on or near buses Monday, police said.

The first robbery was reported in South of Market about 5 p.m., police said. A 49-year-old woman was getting off a bus at Fourth and Howard streets when a man who appeared to be in his 40s grabbed her from behind and began choking her. The woman dropped her digital music player and the brute grabbed it and fled.

The second incident happened a half-hour later in the Mid-Market neighborhood, police said. A 47-year-old woman was in a bus looking at her phone when the bus stopped at Eighth and Market streets. An unknown suspect grabbed the phone and, after a brief struggle, was able to flee with it, police said.

No arrests have been made in either case.
