Two victims in San Leandro triple homicide identified as teen girls

Two of the victims have been identified in a fatal shooting outside a party in San Leandro early this morning, and police say one of them was only 16 years old.

Three people were killed and three others injured in the shooting in an industrial area, which occurred on the corner of Alvarado Street and Aladdin Avenue around 1:15 a.m.

A party in a warehouse or office space in the area had just let out when at least two gunmen approached party attendees in a parking lot and opened fire, Sgt. Doug Calcagno said.

Three victims were declared dead at the scene, two were taken to the hospital by ambulance and a third transported himself to the hospital. Police said they did not know how seriously injured the hospitalized victims were.

One of the victims has been identified as 16-year-old Leneasha Northington, and a second as Shanice Kiel, 19. The third victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Calcagno said preliminary investigations of the incident suggest the party was advertised on the Internet.

Calcagno said it is unknown whether the gunmen had attended the party or arrived afterwards.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in their investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call San Leandro police directly or to call the tip line at (510) 577-3278.
