Two people struck by Amtrak train in Richmond

An Amtrak train struck two people on the tracks near Cutting Boulevard in Richmond on Wednesday afternoon, Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said.

The train had left Oakland at 1:15 p.m. and was heading to Bakersfield when it struck two people in Richmond at about 1:40 p.m., Graham said.

Graham said she could not confirm the conditions of the people who were struck. She did say, however, that the coroner's office had been called to the scene.

As of 2:30 p.m., tracks were still closed in both directions.

There were no injuries to passengers or crew on the train.
