Two people critically injured in Tenderloin shooting in broad daylight

Two people were shot in broad daylight in a Tenderloin corner store Monday afternoon, Officer Grace Gatpandan said.

The shooting was reported in the area of Turk and Leavenworth streets just after 1 p.m., Gatpandan said.

The shots fired set off a ShotSpotter activation signal, and a nearby resident called police upon hearing gunshots and officers a block away from the shooting also heard them, Gatpandan said.

Officers found two victims at the scene who were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

A detailed description of the shooter was unavailable Monday afternoon.
