Two men jumped, robbed in the Excelsior

Two men were jumped and robbed in the Excelsior district early Thursday, police said.

The two victims, men in their 20s, exited a Muni bus at Mission Street and Russia Avenue about 1:30 a.m. when five men, who appeared to be in their late 20s, crossed the street and asked the victims where they were from, police said.

One of the suspects poked one of the victims in the ribs with what he thought was a gun, police said. Then the crooks began beating the victims, punching them several times, before taking both their cellphones and backpack, police said. The crooks fled the scene and no arrests were made.

The victims sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
