Two men flee freeway accident near airport on foot

Traffic was backed up on U.S. Highway 101 for hours after an accident near the airport sent two people to the hospital and two others running away on foot.

Details about the accident were sparse, but California Highway Patrol officers said it occurred around 5:45 p.m. and involved a gold Toyota Camry and a silver Toyota Corolla.

All that officers could say about the accident was that it resulted in blocked traffic in the middle lane of the freeway, and that the two people in the Camry were transported to the hospital. Meanwhile, two men in the Corolla took off on foot toward San Bruno Avenue.

Tow trucks arrived on the scene about 15 minutes later, but traffic remained slow through the area throughout the remainder of the commute.
