Two hospitalized after car drives off Twin Peaks

Two people in a vehicle checking out the views from Twin Peaks took a shortcut down the hill early Friday morning when their truck plunged 100-feet after the driver shifted into drive rather than reverse, authorities said.

The pair, a male and female, survived the plunge their truck took from Twin Peaks Boulevard down the hill near Gardenside Drive at around 3:15 a.m., a fire dispatcher said.

The female had to be extricated from the vehicle, and both were transported to San Francisco General Hospital in stable condition. One suffered a broken leg, police said.

It is not known if alcohol was a factor, fire officials said.
