Two days of rock — and more — to benefit animal welfare

Former A’s manager Tony LaRussa and a host of performers take the stage this weekend to support Animal Rescue Foundation with two benefit shows: ARF Rocks at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Stars to the Rescue XVII at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Friday’s lineup includes the Brooklyn-based ZO2 — which has been described as a cross between Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Audioslave and Stone Temple Pilots — along with Motley Crue’s Vince Neil and "Rock Star INXS" runner-up Marty Casey and Lovehammers.

Saturday night’s program stars comic Rob Schneider, singer Paula Cole and Jefferson Starship’s Craig Chaquico.

Both shows are at the Dean Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek. Tickets are $50 to $125 for Friday’s event and $100 to $200 for Saturday’s performance. Call (925) 943-SHOW or visit www.lesherartscenter.org.
