Trish Keenan succumbs to pneumonia

Sadly, we note the passing of brilliant UK artist Trish Keenan, of the great electronic outfit Broadcast.

She died on Friday, from complications from pneumonia back home in Britain. The group was only three albums old, but they were tapped by Matt Groening himself last year to play the annual All Tomorrow’s Parties festival he was curating. She was only 42.

Sadder still are the circumstances involved.

While on tour in Australia last year, Keenan — who’d stayed on to visit relatives — contracted swine flu. Once she returned home, she fell ill. And by Christmas, she was battling the H1N1 virus in intensive care. She’d been on life support ever since. Her unique voice will be sorely missed.
