Transportation Authority to review funding request for bike upgrades

Nearly $600,000 in infrastructure projects, including $352,000 in bike-related improvements, will be up for approval Tuesday.

The bicycle upgrades include $197,000 for new bike facilities on a 2½-mile stretch of John Muir Drive, $80,000 for support of Bike to Work Day, and $75,000 for bike outreach and education programs.

The funding allocations will be reviewed at the San Francisco County Transportation Authority’s Plans and Programs Committee. The SFCTA, which is overseen by The City’s Board of Supervisors, manages San Francisco’s transportation tax dollars. Overall, $594,067 in transportation tax funding will be up for approval at Tuesday’s committee meeting.
