Transit agency to consider buying additional ferry

The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District, which operates the ferry service between San Francisco and Larkspur, is considering purchasing another high-speed passenger ferry to improve service.

Ridership has been steadily growing on the ferry route, according to Golden Gate officials. The district has two of the vessels. A third would provide an additional 499 seats during peak service hours.

A decision on the contract will be made at today’s board of directors meeting, held at the administration building at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza at 10 a.m.
